Faculty Development Programs and Resources
Rudi Ansbacher Advancing Women in Academic Medicine Leadership Scholars Program
This intensive 18-month leadership development program was initially designed to accelerate the development of women for senior positions in academic medicine and healthcare. It is open to all in leadership roles who have a demonstrated commitment to supporting the advancement of women. Because the Medical School strongly believes that this commitment is a universal responsibility, and that leadership development is most effective in an inclusive and diverse environment, we encourage nominations of individuals of all genders. The program will provide leaders with insight into their leadership strengths and opportunities, allowing for greater self-awareness, growth, development, and success.

Anti-Racism Oversight Committee
In response to a Racial Discrimination and Social Unrest Survey, and concerns presented by the Black Medical Student Association and White Coats for Black Lives, Michigan Medicine has instituted an Anti-Racism Oversight Committee. The committee is comprised of leadership, faculty, staff and medical students with the charge to implement sustainable measure that address the six priorities of the committee:
- Advocacy and Professional Development
- Diversify the Workforce
- Opportunities for Conversation
- Community Work
- Education and Clinical Practice (see Video)
- Speak up Show Solidarity (see Video)
Leaders at Michigan Medicine support the institutional position that we unequivocally recognize racism as a public health crisis, and that we stand together against bias and inequality. We encourage everyone in the Michigan Medicine community to join us in condemning harassment, inequities and social injustice.
It is our collective responsibility as an organization to improve our climate as long as inequities exist. A key behavior to improving our climate is ensuring all of our workforce, learners and volunteers have the skills, confidence and support to speak up when they witness or experience bias, discrimination or harassment. We acknowledge that our work force has expressed fear of speaking up. We must create a climate where everyone believes and trusts that their actions will not result in retaliation of any kind, from anyone. Michigan Medicine will not tolerate retribution or punishment as a result of “seeing something and saying something," and as leaders, we will hold our teams accountable to this.
M-DINE
Michigan Diversity Inclusion Network Equity (M-DINE), are small-group dinners hosted by various senior Michigan Medicine leadership throughout the year. House officers, faculty and staff are invited to each event. M-DINE provides a space for engagement and mentorship in a comfortable home setting.

Inclusive Teaching Resources
The Inclusive Campus Collaborative seeks to foster a campus climate in which all members of the University of Michigan community feel respected, valued, and empowered to engage in the life of the university.
The Inclusive Teaching at U-M website offers a robust database of instructional resources including definitions and elements of inclusive teaching, scripts and videotaped simulations of key activities, reflections and advice from journeyed faculty, and narratives from students about their experiences. Inspired by the crowd-sourced #FergusonSyllabus, #StandingRockSyllabus and #CharlottesvilleSyllabus, these resources are presented via an interactive web platform that allows you to post comments and suggest additional resources, so as to grow a campus conversation and resources relevant to any disciplinary setting.
